Helping Maine Achieve Statewide Clean-Energy Goals 

A new solar installation is bringing 5.7 megawatts of clean energy to Mainers — supporting local jobs, contributing to the clean energy economy, strengthening the community and delivering significant cost savings to Maine businesses. Getting projects such as this one in Bethel completed and operational is critical for Maine as it continues its drive toward statewide clean-energy and climate-fighting goals.

A total of 23 leading Maine commercial and institutional organizations, including Bowdoin College, City of Portland, L. L. Bean, Pratt & Whitney and University of Maine System, will collectively take 100% of the Net Energy Billing Credits created by this new community solar project. 

This project is the first of many – more than 45 MW as of today – we are moving forward in Maine and are committed to helping the state reach its goals of 80% renewable energy by 2030 and 100% by 2050. Read more here.

Solar in Higher Ed

Eight more of Caltech’s campus building rooftops are now host to a combined 800 kilowatts of solar energy. With this additional solar the University is maximizing its energy production at times when electricity is the most expensive to purchase from the grid.

Solar for Good

Solar makes economic sense for non-profits like Goodwill Industries of the Valleys and aligns with their value of stewardship. The project will generate 90% of the building’s onsite electricity needs helping it reduce its carbon footprint and enhance its mission.

Powerful Partnerships

Standard Solar and its development partner ECA Solar hosted local officials and project partners for an official ribbon-cutting event in Bethel, Maine. Our collective efforts provided well-paying jobs using local contractors and considerable energy savings and price certainty to some of Maine’s largest employers.

State Spotlight

Minnesota solar prices have dropped by almost half in the past five years. We were in Minneapolis for the MnSEIA event this month talking to developers about how we can help them get new projects off the ground and add additional assets to our growing portfolio.
