After a diligent effort by the solar industry, the Biden administration heard us and has exempted tariffs on solar panels for two years. Add this to the recent FERC announcement on interconnection changes and it's a great time to be in solar. But, our work isn't done. We have a long way to go so let's get back to business and get as many projects as we can back on track. That's our plan, and as one of the largest asset owners in the U.S., we continue to grow. Standard Solar funded the construction and will own and operate a 7.1 megawatt (MW) community solar project in York, New York. The system is projected to produce approximately 10,794,000 kilowatt-hours annually, allowing local residents and businesses to benefit from clean energy savings by offsetting their electricity bills with solar energy. It is dedicated to the late Thomas Guzek, founder of SolarPark Energy.
The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) recently issued a proposed rule focused on expediting the current process for connecting new electric generation facilities to the grid. If FERC adopts the rules, they will be instrumental in ensuring we can achieve our country’s clean energy and climate goals while meeting our energy needs. It’s essential for interconnection reform to move forward.
