We continue to expand in Maine with our newest project in Trenton and celebrate our project in Bethel. And, in nearby Massachusetts we added a solar + storage project to our portfolio, and that's just the beginning. Our President & CEO shares his thoughts on reaching the Administration's 700% increase in community solar by 2025 and what needs to change to ensure that growth. The Community Solar Outlook Is Improving, But Challenges May Keep Us From The Administration's 2025 Goal
The Biden administration wants 5 million homes to be powered by community solar projects by 2025, representing a 700% increase from 2021 capacity. In February, Wood-Mackenzie raised its 5-year forecast for community solar capacity in the U.S. to 4.5 GW, up by 9% from its earlier outlooks. The revision was due to expanded community solar programs in New York, New Jersey, and Illinois, as well as new programs in Delaware and New Mexico. But, interconnection delays and a lack of transparency from utilities threaten that target.
Our own Scott Wiater discusses what he thinks it will take to reach this aggressive goal.
This 6.97 MW project in Trenton, ME is the area's first large-scale community solar project. It will bring clean energy savings, local economic development and increased resiliency to nine area businesses. It also adds to Standard Solar's existing 50 MW portfolio in Maine, strengthening the company's position in the state.
We recently acquired an innovative 4.69 megawatt (MW) solar and 4 MWh storage project in Massachusetts from EDF Renewables. The project, serving the town of Plymouth and the Acton Water District, received an award from the state’s SMART program, which provides incentives for solar and storage projects.
👉This month we're spotlighting our5.7 MW community solar project in Bethel, Maine with development partner ECA Solar. The array is bringing clean energy to more than 20 leading Maine businesses.👈
