Uncertainty looms, but planning, patience and forward-looking business practices prevail
While the uncertainty facing the industry continues due to the Department of Commerce tariff circumvention case, there have also been positive state policy movements, and Standard Solar's pipeline continues to grow. In this month's newsletter, read about Maryland passing the Climate Solutions Now Act, how storage can solve interconnection issues, O&M best practices and our newest project in Maine. But first, our president & CEO, Scott Wiater, discusses how the tariff case is putting our nation's energy goals at risk. Finally, we're hiring for a variety of positions — come join the leader in solar. Read more here👇

Our Nation's Renewable Goals Are At Risk
The Commerce Department has the choice to move forward with a baseless petition that could result in massive job losses and set back our clean energy goals or fix its mistake by immediately issuing a negative preliminary determination — speed is of the essence.
Our own Scott Wiater provides his viewpoint on this case and what needs to be done.
Our Director of Asset Management Jay Smith discussed the role of operations and maintenance (O&M) in large-scale commercial solar projects on a recent podcast with The Energy Gang. Jay describes why it's vital to build long-term asset management into a solar project from its inception, how O&M can impact pricing and financing agreements and more.
The passage of the Climate Solutions Now Act elevates Maryland as a national leader in facilitating sustainable economic growth while achieving climate stabilization results. This is good for Marylanders and good for companies and organizations looking to locate in a state with long-term foundations for growth and innovation.
We are developing a 7.5 MW solar farm on a former biomass plant site in the Town of Fort Fairfield, Maine. The system is projected to generate 9,112 megawatt-hours in its first year of operation. Construction on the project is expected to begin in May, with completion targeted for the fourth quarter of this year.
Renewable Energy World takes a look at how storage could solve the interconnection puzzle for distributed solar. The article discusses a contractual agreement developed by researchers to help with the overall interconnection process. Scott Wiater offered his insight as well — utilities "just tell us what they've spent and we pay the bill" for grid upgrades.
